UAB Merko statyba turnover for H1 grew by 30%

In the first half of 2021, the turnover of UAB Merko statyba reached EUR 24 million and was 30% higher than in the same period last year (EUR 16.7 million).

“Turnover grew because of new contracts signed this year and because of projects which were started in 2020 and are being continued this year. Customers value MERKO as a reliable construction partner”, said Saulius Putrimas, Head of UAB Merko statyba in Lithuania.

During the first half of this year, UAB Merko statyba signed four new contracts with UAB Tokvila, UAB Continental Automotive Lithuania, UAB Geotyrimų centras and UAB Anykščių vėjas. The company is also continuing the renovation works of the Barracks building in Kaunas, which were started in previous years (customer – NSPA, NATO Support and Procurement Agency) and finishing the construction of Kaunas district police headquarters building: soon Kaunas police officers will be able to work in new premises which are specially built for them and adapted for their work.

In the first half of 2021, MERKO sold 152 apartments in Lithuania under preliminary contracts of sale. 135 apartments were sold during the same period last year. Practically all sold apartments are from the new UAB Merko statyba construction project – residential complex “Vilnelės skverai”.

The popularity of the new residential complex project “Vilnelės skverai” far exceeded our expectations. There are only one or two apartments left in the first stage buildings A, B and C, which will be completed by the end of this year, and in D building, where construction will be completed in the first quarter of next year. The number of available apartments in both E and F buildings, which will be finished in the second and third quarters of 2022, is rapidly decreasing. The future settlers don’t hesitate to choose apartments in the houses that are still under construction because they see our project “Vilnelės slėnis”, which was completed a good year ago”, said S. Putrimas.

According to him, buyers are interested in high-quality, comfortable, cost-effective apartments in a rapidly growing area which is a part of the project “Architecture Park” initiated by Vilnius City Municipality and is located between the Old Town, Užupis and Belmontas. In order to satisfy the needs of buyers, they will soon be offered more than 200 apartments in houses built during the third stage of “Vilnelės skverai”.

Speaking about the projects already implemented and planned for the future by the company, S. Putrimas points out that the situation in the construction market is uncertain.

“I have already mentioned that this period after the pandemic in the construction sector is difficult due to the shortage of construction materials and the extremely rapid rise in prices. Such market fluctuations are not favorable for contractors and professionalism, experience, financial capacity, and the ability to manage risks are the most helpful in this situation. Those who are looking to buy apartments as well as those who are choosing a partner for construction works should pay attention to the builder’s experience in the market, implemented projects”, noted the head of MERKO.
