According to the signed contract with the German company Nordex Lithuania, UAB Merko statyba will install the foundations of the wind farm in Mažeikiai district. The value of the contract exceeds 7 million euros.

It is planned to install the foundations of 14 wind power plants. In this project UAB Merko statyba is responsible for building the foundations of wind power plants, i.e., digging foundation pits, installing base for piles and foundation, and more. The works are planned to be completed in the 1st quarter of 2022.

‘I greatly welcome the desire of businesses to get as much electricity as possible from renewable sources that have a minimal impact on the environment. It is important to me that MERKO also contributes to this by building these wind farms in Lithuania. It’s also pleasing that the company Nordex Lithuania appreciated our experience and invited us to implement this project in Mažeikiai district,’ said Saulius Putrimas, CEO of UAB Merko statyba.

According to the data by Litgrid, a cumulative wind capacity of power plants installed in Lithuania is 540 MW, which amounts to almost 60 percent of total installed capacity of renewable energy sources. By 2050 Lithuania seeks to produce 100% of the electricity it needs from renewable sources.
